Our History
ZLT Hope Homes was founded in 2013 in Nairobi, Kenya. We believe every child deserves the love and support of family in a safe environment which builds strong moral values. It is our sincere hope that every youth and child supported by ZLT Hope Homes will become future leaders and contributing members of society.
ZLT Hope Homes was founded by Jacqueline Villeneuve-Ahmed (Sudbury, ON) and has been led by Jerusha Wanjiru (Makuyu, Kenya) since it’s inception in 2013. Two single mothers from different continents, united in their passion for supporting abused and abandoned children of all backgrounds. The ZLT Hope Homes family began with humble beginnings in a small home in Donholm, Nairobi, quickly growing from 10 to 15, then 20 to 25+ children and youth.
In 2018, ZLT expanded and began to provide support to single mothers, as well as children and youth affected by, or vulnerable to, sexual violence and physical assault. This included community programming and skills training facilitated by Olive & Annie, educational scholarships, and rescue and safe shelter for those affected by abuse.
