Our mission at ZLT is to provide a loving home to orphaned and abandoned children of all backgrounds.  We believe in providing our children with proper nutrition, education, and health care within an environment that builds strong family bonds. Our goal is to raise children to become responsible and dignified adults with core values that will empower them to be successful and contributing members of society.

ZLT began in March 2013 with humble beginnings. From the very beginning we wanted our children to have a family that loves and nurtures them, and reminds them daily that their dreams for the future are valid. We began with 10 children and quickly grew to 20. Our original vision was to provide a home to a maximum of 30 children but when we grew to 27 we knew that was our perfect fit. Our children have grown tremendously since we opened our doors. Unlike many organizations we do not track our "successes" in academic achievements, rather we understand that all children have their strengths. In our family we see successes in emotional strengthening - seeing children who came to us not communicating finally sharing their thoughts and feelings.

Seeing a child suffering with a life threatening congenital heart defect finally receiving life saving open heart surgery and now going to school and living each and every day with a positive outlook. Seeing children who experienced severe trauma overcoming through the support and guidance of our team and coming forward stronger than ever. That is what we define as success. 

Our team of volunteers in North America works diligently to support our family in Nairobi. We have been fortunate enough to have the support of the community in Sudbury, ON which guided us through our founding years and continue to be our highest donors, and expanded to now have a donor base of friends of ZLT from around the world. At ZLT we believe in quality vs. quantity. We believe in the value of family and the impact that love has on the life of a child in need. 

Through the support of our friends of ZLT over the years our children are becoming the future leaders of Kenya, succeeding in all areas of life and making us immensely proud each and every day.
