It's Official - We're Making A Shortfilm!

Throughout the pandemic, our children have tapped into new depths of their creativity. Some have poured their heart and soul into music, others have found their passion in dance, and one group of boys in our family have found a true love for acting and filmmaking!

In April, a small but mighty team comprised of Brian, Antony, Clinton, and Jon pitched me a concept for a short film idea they had been working on. After preliminary discussions, we realized the benefits of bringing in our children’s talents to help with film development, music, set designs, etc. At ZLT, we prioritize restorative healing through the arts, and we were blown away by the love and dedication the boys had put into their pitch.

Over the last three weeks, the boys have developed the script for their first scene, worked on character development, and drew out the designs for their costumes. The best part? They’ve taken on this project independently and they’ve done so with immense pride.

During a difficult 12 months filled with lockdowns and police brutality in Kenya, the boys managed to channel the frustrations of being in a longstanding lock-down into the development of a short film that would not only bring joy into our home at ZLT but the homes of our donors and supporters who tune in as well!

Feeling inspired? We sure are!

So, how can you help?

Olive & Annie will contribute $1,000, but we’re requiring an additional $1,000 for costume design, equipment rentals, and set designs. The boys have invested their energy into their proposal, and we’d love to help bring their vision to life!
